-
- No. Gadtools is limited in its way to handle gadgets, it requires explicit
- assistance for layout and usage of fonts. It also doesn't support such
- a variety of gadgets as MUI.
-

-
- Why do you think that such an enhanced gadtools would use less disk space
- and memory than MUI ?

-
- What for ? There are lots of fonts that you can chose from. I am using Courier
- most of the time and topaz is just a fallback because it is in ROM.

-
- The programs chose the fonts. And it would be nice if they would use the users
- preferences.
-
- >Also how about a nice 3 color gadtools button, or if you have lots of memory,

-
- As long as you guarantee that the "animation" is as large as the program expects
- it... otherwise you hit a gadtools limitation.
-
- >Buttons look much more professional if the edges are

-
- Dunno if that is professional. But what buttons are you thinking of ? The gadtools
- buttons do use beveled corners when possible.
-

-

-
- Again. Chose your own. The mapping is just a problem if you want to display more
- colors than you can display.
-

-
- Sounds like a bad GIF datatype to me. No ?
-

-
- Are these "crappy" because they could be displayed on a commodore 64 ? Or do
- you require 48bit icons because these can be displayed on a SGI Onyx ?
-
- No. Icons with 4 colors and also a good black/white shape do make a lot of sense.
- That doesn't mean that you shouldn't be able to use more colors if you want.
- BTW, there are already solutions.
-
- >Both Windows and Mac have full color icons,

-
- Blue ? :)
-

-
- Serious work is prohibited by the 4 color icons ?
-
- >Of course you can get new icon sets, but still, they're only 8 colors
- >with nice but still rather opressive icons.
-
- For me 256 color icons are opressive because they use too many colors. I like
- to use the colors for different things than colorful icons.
-
- >And what about pull down menus? It would be much nicer to have cool pop up

-
- Depends on your display. I prefer pull down menus on small displays and pop up
- menus on big ones.
-
- >with nice beveled edges and thin non-proportional text
-
- Well.. You can't get too much of this pseudo-3D look no ?
-
- But I prefer nice thin proportional text and I actually use it.
-
- >than ugly black
- >and white ones that haven't changed much since Workbench 1.0.
-
- No ? Previously they were white on black.
-

-

-
- They probably also look at the 640x512 64 color workbench when left alone.

-
- What a shit. You couldn't see anything but your icons.
-
- >And then the rest of the colors (from 32 to
- >256 or 262144)
-
- And you surely have no idea about graphics hardware.
-

-
- Why not ? After all it should be affordable. No ?
-

-
- If colorful icons is all you want then you should really consider a PC with Win95.
